Conventions Of A Thriller Opening

Thriller openings are designed and create in order to draw in their audience and make them ask questions which will be answered later in the movie or left unanswered for us to make our own conclusions. Thriller openings normally involve a couple of establishing, this is to show the audience where the movie or scene will be set. Most Thrillers are set in a hostile or eerie location in order to create suspense, tension and mystery. Also most Thriller opens, show some sort of action, normally involving the movies villain or an act that the villain has caused, either normally a murder, or a murder scene. This is all to create a sense of mystery and tension. These conventions aren't always used though, but 9 times out of 10 they will be used and sometimes be more than exploited, like in the movie 'se7en' which is a movie based on the villain committing the 7 deadly sins.
